Blackthorn Play Area, Carterton.
New play area for Oxfordshire Housing Estate
Within a tight budget we created and open and inviting play area for the under 11’s. The layout includes inclusive and non-prescriptive play equipment. This increases the numbers of children that can play at any time and encourages children to play together.
We worked with Cottesway Housing Association to consult with residents on the form and location of the equipment. The consultation process, especially with the children, is an important part of the design process which promotes ownership of the play area and will significantly reduce the likelihood of damage and vandalism.
The result is an open and varied play area which fits into the surroundings and is visually appealing.

This Local Equipped Area for Play (Leap) is situated within Shilton Park, Carterton. Designed for unsupervised play it contains 6 pieces of play equipment and sits in an open location surround by housing.
